Abstract | |
This article explains the difference between 'static' and 'dynamic' sites. In WebHare, both types are supported. Based on the two types, WebHare Application Portal will be compared with other Content Management Systems (CMS). Graphical diagrams, further explaining the concepts, accompany the information supplied.
Dynamic hosting means that every page in a website is generated every time it is requested. The items of the web page are requested from a database and the page is then generated. Static hosting means that visitors of the site can access ready-made web pages directly. The advantages and disadvantages of both hosting methods and how WebHare® A.P. uses both methods are discussed in this article.
One of the biggest differences between WebHare® A.P. and most other large scale Content Management Systems (CMS) is the way in which the websites created by these systems are offered to you, the end-user. In this article this difference is explained in detail.
This article is meant for users who would like to have a bit more in-depth knowledge of the philosophy behind a CMS.
